Louis Schieber: "When I make choices in life, it’s great to have someone who has gone before me

I have two older brothers who have really inspired me in life. One is 8 years older and the other is 10 years older, so I was the baby of the family. As the youngest, I could receive so much education from my brothers because everything I do, they have already done nearly a decade ago. When I make choices in life, it’s great to have someone who has gone before me because I can step back and look at their actions to see if they were good or bad. If I have important questions, I often go to my brothers so they can give me advice, especially about issues that younger people deal with. Even though I only call them about once a month, we can talk for 3 hours! We do our best to make plans to try to spend some time together in the future, even if it’s only for a week. Even though we can’t travel together any more as a family like we used to, we can always visit each other in the different countries where my brothers live, in Barcelona and in Paris!

私には兄が二人います。彼らは自分の人生においてインスピレーションを与えてくれる大切な存在です。 八歳上と十歳上という年齢の差ですから、私はずっと「家族の赤ちゃん」として育てられてきました。そのため、私より知識や経験が豊富な兄たちから多くの教育を受けることができました。 私は彼らの行動やそれによる結果を観察し、決め事をする際参考にしています。 私が大きな悩み事を抱えている時、特に若者に関する問題の場合、兄たちに相談しに行くことが多いです。月一回しか電話をすることはないですが、話し始めると気づいたら三時間ほど通話しています。直接会うことは難しいですが、今後一週間だけでも一緒に時間を過ごせるよう頑張って計画をたてています。兄達とは以前のように家族として一緒に旅行することはなくなってしまいました。しかし、今は私の兄弟はバルセロナやパリに住んでいるのでお互いの国々へ遊びに行くことが楽しみです。
