I think everyone has a passion—we just don’t get to share it with many different people. The only people you get to talk to are your close friends because passion is such an intimate thing, it’s so sensitive!

When you’re walking around the street, you might think, ‘Oh this person looks so happy or has it all.” But you have to understand that not everything’s perfect. Everyone is going through the same things—hardships and sadness. It’s weird to say that it’s my passion but I actually like listening to people and giving advice, especially people who are different from me. It makes me think more, reflect more on what I learned, or apply it to different things. It always helps me in the end. If I’m going through something, I’ll remember, ‘Oh this person said this’ so maybe I should do this. Listening to other people gives you different ideas to deal with problems or other people’s problems.

It’s okay to be not okay. In order to be happy, you have to go through sadness too. I think just the slightest form of kindness makes others feel better, that’s why I want to do it—to listen and care for others.

私は誰もが情熱を持っていると思います。ただ、異なる人々とそれを共有はできません。情熱は親密で非常に敏感なものなので、話すことができる唯一の人はあなたの親友なのです。

それが私の情熱だと言うのは変ですが、実際私は人の意見を聞き、助言を与えるのが好きです。特に私とは異なる人々に対して。そういったことは私をより考えさせ、学んだことにもっと応用でき、別のことにも適用させられます。私が何かを経験した時に人が言っていたことを思い出し、自分もそれに従ってみることだってできます。他の人の意見を聞くことで、自分の問題や他の人の問題に対処するためのさまざまなアイデアが得られます。

通りを歩いているとき、「ああ、この人はとても幸せそうに見える」と思うかもしれませんが、すべてが完璧というわけではありません。みんな同じことを経験しています。苦難と悲しみです。大丈夫じゃなくても大丈夫なんです。幸せになるためには、あなたも悲しまなければなりません。ほんのわずかな優しさが他の人の気分を良くするはずです。だから私は人の話を聞いたり、相談に乗ることが好きです。
