Tae Hyun & Makha: "Fall down 7 times, get up 8 times."

T: We were always talking about how “We gotta quit the team!” (laughs) It’s just so much work. We first meet up at 10 PM, warm up, practice for an hour and a half, and then have another meeting. It’s almost 3 AM by the time we finish!

M: Yeah, it’s a lot of dedication. I did actually consider quitting last November when I had a spine injury. I decided to stay though, since it was my last year.

T: In my case, I had a pretty serious knee injury, and I even had an operation. I didn’t want to stop, but I had to quit the team because the doctor told me I should rest for a year.

M: It sounds rough, but stuff like this happens all the time in hockey because it’s a contact sport. It’s not ping pong! (laugh) Even so, we still keep playing. There’s a common saying: “Fall down 7 times, get up 8 times.” You learn from your mistakes and experiences to become a better person. It’s important to keep doing what you want to do.

T: For me, I think about strength and honor. I want to be strong, and I also want to respect and be respected by the people around me. I agree with what my teammate says: I think the only way to find your passion is to keep trying because no one’s going to achieve that for you.
