Last year, I took a one year break from university and attended a vocational school for photography. My mother was against it at first, but the feeling that I got when I took pictures was just unforgettable. I knew that I would regret it if I didn’t do it, so I convinced her in the end. The one year at the vocational school in which I devoted myself solely to photography gave me confidence. Because I could work this hard on photography, I realized that I could work hard on other things as well. This enabled me to focus more on my studies when I returned to university.

I think it’s really important to be honest with yourself, especially if you have something that you can be crazy about or dedicated to. If you prepare well and concentrate on that passion, you learn to cherish your own life, and that was photography for me. The phrase “cherish your life” is actually from my mother. Part of the reason why I decided to enroll in a vocational school might have been because of these words. I have no regrets about the year that I became genuine about my feelings and desire to take photos. Photography is, has been, and will be like a friend who’s always there for me.
